You Look Like You Could Use Some Random Thoughts

  • I am obsessed with This American Life. It's like candy to me and makes me wonder if I should have been a reporter.
  • I would like to have Ira Glass and his wife over for a dinner party.
  • Speaking of dinner parties, I don't understand why nobody ever asks me anything about myself, my job, my life at dinner parties.
  • What if I won the Pulitzer Prize last week? How would you ever know, people at dinner parties?
  • Good thing I have a blog to make me feel fascinating.
  • Guess what? At dinner parties, I ask people about themselves.
  • I am done with my Dinner Party Soapbox now.
  • Thank you for reading.
  • (You were reading, weren't you?)
  • I am also obsessed with Undercover Boss, although I had a disheartening thought: If the show gets wildly popular, it won't work anymore because people will be expecting it.
  • However, temp employees everywhere will suddenly get treated like undercover CEOs. I guess that's a good thing for the temps of the world.
  • As long as I'm listing obsessions, let's go ahead and add giant chocolate chip cookies to the list.
  • There is currently giant chocolate chip cookie dough chilling in the fridge.
  • I can quit giant chocolate chip cookies anytime, I swear.
  • I have another gripe: moms who are judgmental about other moms.
  • It makes me terribly sad.
  • And a little bit mad, too.
  • But mostly sad.
  • Dads don't sit around judging other dads, do they?
  • This would make a fascinating topic at a dinner party.
  • Especially if Ira Glass and his wife were there.
  • I'm not a very judgmental person unless you do something that I think is really stupid.
  • Or if you give me the sense that I am morally superior to you.
  • Just kidding.
  • I love this thought: "I did the best I could with what I knew and who I was at the time."
  • Isn't it great?
  • I don't like tattoos, but I think that would make a good tattoo because it is very profound.
  • And it would also be kind of funny, because tattoos are something that people usually end up regretting.
  • Another funny tattoo would be, "I hate tattoos!"
  • Another funny tattoo would be, "My parents went on a trip to Hawaii and all I got was this stupid tattoo."
  • I'm going to call the local tattoo parlor and give them some of these ideas.
  • And then I will send them an invoice.
  • Because I don't work for free.
  • I think that is all for now.
  • Thank you for reading.
  • (You were reading, weren't you?)

I was totally reading. And enjoying. I don't like it when moms judge other moms either. And I'm not a mom. Isn't motherhood/parenthood a crapshoot anyway?

Why would you want to quit chocolate chip cookies?

i seriously love your posts, they make me laugh aloud. and yes, i must tell you i love ira too. in fact one of my favorite dates ever was seeing him speak at Kingsbury Hall. it's a must must must. it was on a sunday night however. i justified it to the nth degree. it was like an ira fireside.

How did you know? Love your random!

Remember, I told you that in real life you are the best audience. And you are inputting material. The less you talk, the more you learn. And the more dinner parties you'll be invited to.

I absolutely love This American Life as well. And random thoughts!

I also love Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me. It's the best way to hear the news.

I have had the same infatuation with Undercover Boss & also had the same thought. It will only be good for one season. Sort of like Prison Break.
I haven't been out to a dinner party in like forever.

Your posts always make me laugh! I have no idea what This American Life is, but I am now on a mission to find out.

I love big chocolate chip cookies too. I like to pretend that my recipe is better than my husbands, but it's not. He makes awesome cookies.
My mom and I have had the same beef with dinner parties. Especially if it's a work related dinner party for your spouse. I think some people feel that if you don't go to work everyday, you have no life to talk about. It is sad, really. I think everyone has an interesting story to share if you just take the time to ask. I have heard that Tom Cruise is very interested in the lives of the "ordinary" person, and is very inquisitive when you meet him. I don't know personally, because, I have not met Tom Cruise, but it has to be true, because I heard it on Oprah.

hey, Tiff, I was wondering if you guys would like to come over for a dinner party soon? Let me know when works for you. Oh, and could you bring giant chocolate chip cookies?

I am totally getting an "I Hate Tattoos" tattoo. microscopic though, because I'm really not a fan.

Did you host a dinner party?! If so, then the convo should be all about you and the fabulous dinner you made.

Random posts are some of my favorite to read...and read them I do. It's always to comforting to find out that there are more people out there obsessed with NPR shows the way I am.

I WAS reading and I loved your random thought! Agree with how awful it is when moms judge other moms... we weren't put on this earth to judge another... but then we are all at our own point in the journey. Thanks for the laughs!

I'm thinking of hosting a "Tiffany" dinner party. The invites, decorations, etc will all feature your photo and various clips from all your totally funny blogs. Of course, you would be the guest of honor and we would only be allowed to ask you questions. Kind of like a press conference. With good food.

You are so good at random!

I'd love to have you speak at my next dinner party. (I never have dinner parties anymore, however.)

Ira would be the best person to have around your dinner table. If he showed up at my next dinner party I'd talk to him about his interview with the Squirrel Cop. That was the episode that got me hooked.

I love Undercover Boss, but I agree how many times can they pull off the "trying out entry level jobs" bit. This American Life is the BEST! When you come over for a dinner party, I promise to ask you all about you, your life, and your job.

I have a tattoo that says "People at dinner parties who don't ask Tiffany what she does for a living are missing out."

It's a good tattoo. I'm proud of it.

I would love to have a dinner party with all of you, but I promise I wouldn't dominate the conversation. Nothing makes me squirm like talking about myself at a dinner party.

Just found your blog. Totally love Ira Glass as well :)

I totally judge other moms. Cause most moms are stupid.

Just kidding.

undercover boss= PURE GENIUS. love that show!

i smiled when i read the 'i ask other people about themselves at dinner parties' because i feel like that might be "one of the things i am expert at".

i just find it interesting to hear what people will divulge about themselves after first meeting. plus, i think people generally loosen up if you are geniuinely (sp.) interested.

ps nobody invites me to dinner parties, either. hmmmmmmm.

I need to have more dinner parties.

People still have dinner parties? Should I feel bad because I didn't realize this because in realizing it I realize I have not been invited to any?
