Angsty Birthday Song

Max spontaneously sang this (original) song on the beach over the summer. And, no, it wasn't his birthday, not even close. I dedicate it to my brother James who is turning 30 this weekend. Happy birthday, J.D.! I hope it's not a rip off!

I'm thinking of submitting it to the Friend to be published and used as an alternate birthday song in Primary. What do you think?

Oh my! That's awesome! Sure to replace "It's my party, I can cry if I want to!"

Love that one. Although I will always treasure my rock and roll birthday serenade from Max.

and uh, thanks for capturing a snipit of my best side . . . :)

I don't think I knew what "rip off" meant until I was 13, so congratulations on having such a world-weary child.

Best birthday song ever, by the way. I laughed so hard.

That's great! James will be excited to hear it, since it is dedicated to him.

Oh wow, I love how he adds more vibrato towards the end when he really starts to feel it.

Classic. I'm pretty sure he was throwing handfuls of sand for percussion. It didn't quite pick up on the video, but I'm sure it sounded amazing live.

hilarious! I am already teaching it to my boys so that they can be ahead of the game when it comes out in the Friend!

also. What exactly did you do or not do at this poor boy's last birthday that caused these feelings?

Isn't Ryan supposed to ask that question, pad and pencil in hand, while Tiff reclines on the couch in his office?

Max is a little YOU! Do you say rip off? Love this video...I'll talk to my Primary Presidency about it for the birthday song. ;)

Today actually is my birthday, so that is extra awesome! Loved it.

What the heck! That made me laugh out loud.

Although, as a former primary president, I'm not sure they'd go for it. I'm sorry.

It's like going to an Alanis Morissette or Avril Lavigne concert.

Love it! I feel the same angst in my heart about birthdays. I have never thought to put it to song though. Thank you Max. BTW, his song is a hit at our house.

I love that he sounds kind of like Ethel Merman when he sings!
